Search for the Higgs through the decay channel H →

چکیده
1 Abstract According to the Standard Model of Particle Physics, all particles are necessarily mass-less. Obviously this is not the case. One attempt at reconciling the Standard Model's prediction with observed particle masses is the proposal that particles acquire mass through the interaction with a field that pervades all of space; the stronger the interaction, the greater the acquired mass. The particle associated with this field, the Higgs boson, has yet to be discovered. We present here methods and results in a search for the Higgs in the 150-200 GeV mass range. Using the Tevatron, a particle accelerator at Fermilab, we investigate the particles produced for evidence of the Higgs by means of its decay products. I have used two analysis packages to study the accelerator data. The program toolkit for multivariate analysis uses multivariate techniques including Neural Networks and Boosted Decision Trees to separate Higgs-like signals from background data. The program called Collie produces, among other things, a lower exclusion limit on the cross section of Higgs production at a certain mass.

Charged Higgs Boson Search at the LHC
This review starts with a brief introduction to the charged Higgs boson (H) in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). It then discusses the prospects of a relatively light H boson search via top quark decay and finally a heavy H boson search at LHC. The viable channels for H search are discussed, with particular emphasis on the H → τν decay channel.

متن کاملSuggestions for Benchmark Scenarios for MSSM Higgs Boson Searches at Hadron Colliders∗
The Higgs boson search has shifted from LEP2 to the Tevatron and will subsequently move to the LHC. Due to the different initial states, the Higgs production and decay channels relevant for Higgs boson searches were different at LEP2 to what they are at hadron colliders. We suggest new benchmark scenarios for the MSSM Higgs boson search at hadron colliders that exemplify the phenomenology of di...

This review article starts with a brief introduction to the charged Higgs boson (H) in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). It then discusses the prospects of a relatively light H boson search via top quark decay at Tevatron/LHC, and finally a heavy H boson search at LHC. The viable channels for H search are identified in both the cases, with particular emphasis on the H → τν decay...
متن کاملLight pseudoscalar η and H → ηη decay in the simplest little Higgs mode
The SU(3) simplest little Higgs model in its original framework without the so-called μ term inevitably involves a massless pseudoscalar boson η, which is problematic for b -physics and cosmological axion limit. With the μ term introduced by hand, the η boson acquires mass mη ∼ μ, which can be lighter than half the Higgs boson mass in a large portion of the parameter space. In addition, the int...
متن کاملProduction of Neutral Higgs + Jet at the Lhc in the Sm and the Mssm∗
The production of SM Higgs bosons in hadron collisions at the LHC will proceed mainly via gluon fusion (gg → H). The detection of a SM Higgs boson with a mass below 140GeV at the LHC is rather difficult because the predominant decay into a bb̄-pair is swamped by the large QCD two-jet background . Therefore, only through observation of the rare decay into two photons, is the inclusive single Higg...
